RessurectionX/EmuXtras Thanks

Written by RessurectionX

Tons of work from a lot of great people I've met on the Scene had been done to get this project to the point that it was as of the Rx 1.0 release.  Now that I've moved on and bequeathed my responsibilities as the lone project manager, tons of stuff has been done by members old and new alike.  We look forward to new releases and what upgrades and totally new things the future has to offer.

Much of the work included in the RessurectionXtras 1.0 release was also done before the Xtras started.  Much of this stuff had been compiled by the team from torrented collections and websites which focused on specific things like romset creation (Ex: no-intro, goodsets), walkthroughs (Ex: GameFAQs), translated games (Ex: romhacking), boxart restoration (Ex: HyperSpin), movie creation (Ex: EmuMovies) and system specific sites which provided things like the synopsis files (Ex: AtariAge,  SNESCentral, etc).  I have probably only met a handful of the people who were involved with any aspect of the project before the Rx team got together to compile and make their own additions.

Please feel free to contact the head EmuXtras team members to get your name added to the list for what work you did if I missed you here.  This goes for people who worked directly with us as well as anyone who did things in the past that we've used and didn't get credited here.  I had worked with so many people for so long that I'm sure I'm forgetting some thanks that need to go out.  Please don't take offense if you're name isn't here or if you feel that your contributions were underrated here.  Let the EmuXtras team leads know and you'll be properly credited.

Thanks to all of you.  This project would never have happened if it wasn't for all of the hard work and time you sacrificed.  Had I kept all the work that I had done to myself and tried doing alone all that we accomplished in 3 years together, I'd be 50 years old before all that work got done.

The emulation community and retro fans everywhere thank you :)

Long live the Xtras, whatever name they go by in the future.  Things can only get better.

To XBScene members.  In no particular order:

Madmab

Thanks for making me even want to plod along doing the millions of mundane tasks I had to do to put the packages together and document everything that had been done along the way.  Nearly anything I wanted you to make the XPORT emulators do you were able to accomplish, and this gave me a reason to do a lot of work that I did.  Had we not been able to get the emulators to function the way that they do today, a large portion of the Xtras work would have just been a waste of time until somebody who knew what they were doing came along and made the work relevant.

He put up with my BS for 3 years and never failed in any my requests.  Though he didn't have time to get to certain things like "Lockdown Mode" and some other major updates that we had brainstormed while I headed up this project, I do see he is trying to get to some of that stuff now.  Look for some great things in the future from this guy.  It will be a sad day for the entire XBox community when he decides to move on.

Gilles

Your daughter is going to be an artistic genius if the work that you and your wife create is any indicator.  You've always been one of the nicest people I've ever met online and I've never heard a mean spirited remark ever slip from your direction.  Thanks for making the Rx thread something that looked so good that people would come back to see what was new and for all of the great skins.

Gilles (who also goes by Gilou)  was responsible for many emulator skins in the Xtras emulator pack.  He created all of the Generic Boxarts that ensure every game has a box and all of the Rx thread buttons and banners.  He's the man behind the Dynamic Skins.  We worked very closely together for many months along with Madmab formulating the Dynamic skins and conceiving the Generic Boxart idea.

Mega Man (?)

I said quite a lot to you man that I wish I had 10 of you helping out when the project was in full swing and it was always true.  We had quite a lot of people helping out by the end, but only a few ever managed to come close to matching your own contributions to the project, videos or otherwise.  Thanks for being a big reason that I didn't have to buy a better computer and learn how to make videos on my own.  I know you love it, but I HATE making videos :)

If Madmab, Gilles and I were the 3 Muskateers, MM? is our d'Artagnan.  Always ready with a joke to lighten the tension when I was being a bastard, he was for a long time the moral police of the group.  MM? was responsible for the creation of a thousand videos, and probably many more.  He also practically single-handedly put the Cheat Code Databases together (which isn't technically an Xtras project as it's integrated solidly into the Madmab emulators, but I'm sure it could easily be transferred to PC emulators or other platforms now that it's compiled).  I spent quite a few nights staying up late working on the Xtras stuff while he made videos and we'd PM each other back and forth.

Stupot1(73)

Thanks for the vids man..... boy, you really loved those romhacking translations and hacks.  After you got done making the trans/hack videos I requested of you, you just kept going.  Sometimes I thought my work would never be done because every single day you were coming at me with more videos for hacks and translations I either never knew existed or never would have added or suggest people even made videos for.  Thanks for pushing me to do more and to add so many more games to the sets with all the work you did.  There was no way I was going to let your video creation work go to waste, so there were easily hundreds of games added to the sets that wouldn't have been had you not come along when you did.

When MM? seemed to be on a hiatus and also while he was working on the Cheat Code Database, Stupot did an excellent job filling in the video gaps.  He made easily a thousand videos himself spanning many different systems.  These primarily consisted of the translation and hack games, but while he was around he also filled in many blanks for official games when MM? wasn't around to do them.

Bigby

You were one of the late additions, but a very welcome one.  I was so frazzled and burnt out at the end I just couldn't do much of the grunt work anymore.  You took a lot of responsibility off of me when it came to the arcade (CoinOPS and FBA) work I wanted to get done before I left the project.  Thanks for that, and thanks for creating so many of the videos there at the end when MM? and Stupot weren't around much anymore to do them.

Bigby made a bunch of missing CoinOPS & FBL vids and gathered up all the arcade artwork. He also did some GBA and GameGear videos as well.  He took some time to fix game manual sizes that were too large to work in the XPORT emulators, and also did a ton of other grunt work that I was too burned out to do at the end.  He also worked very hard at the end with cbagy to help make 3D boxart for all of the 2D stuff in the 11th hour.

cbagy

Thanks to you too man.... another late addition to the team, but a very effective one.  As I recall we butted heads when we first met, on several occasions, but you stood out among the complainers as somebody who was willing to stand up and do something rather than just bitch and whine and not contribute at all.  We may not have always seen eye to eye, but we sure got a lot done together at the end of the project.  Seriously, thanks for cranking out that 3D artwork so fast at the end and setting up templates for Bigby (and possibly others????) to help finish them right before release.

Cbagy headed up the project for making 3D DVD-like boxart for every 2D image provided in the XTras.  He also made much higher quality Genesis videos for around 500 of the most popular titles then we had prior to his arrival.  From what I understand, he's still very involved in making new HD videos.

pCeSlAyEr

Thanks for having that much interest in the TurboGrafix/CD system man.  That would have been a bitch to find people as interested as you who would go to the lengths you did to make the Xtras for that system complete.  I just couldn't figure out how to convert the CDs to the mp3 type files that would drastically minimize the size taken up by this system.  We'd have wasted probably another 5 to 10 GB of hard drive space without that work.  All those videos too.......  You were indeed a lucky find.

The Lone Wolf, the Wildcard...... Many of you may not even know who pCeSlAyEr is.  I did most of my work with him via PM and outside of the forums.  He did a ton of work putting together the TurboGrafx Xtras (not just videos, but many aspects), particularly the CD games.  He helped out quite a bit with MAME videos too if memory serves correctly.  Also just a big thanks to him for a lot of general help all over the place.

BombBloke

I've never been a big fan of cops, internet or otherwise, but thanks for being one of the good guys. I suspect that I would have been banned several times over at a lot of other sites for things I said in the emu forum.  Thanks for realizing that in the end that I was doing a good thing and bending a few rules for me.  Thanks for never censoring my posts and for pointing out via PM that I was getting out of line.  Oh yeah..... thanks for saving me thousands of hours with your batch file creation wizardry too.  Can't forget that...

BombBloke made a ton of useful scripts that made my life a lot easier since I'm a dummy at coding.  Thousands of hours saved thanks to that dude.  Not sure how much help those programs would be now that the Xtras have already been released, but just in case they could be of use to anyone they were all uploaded to the server.

Excalibur

Thanks for all the Atari information man.  You were one of the few people I regularly had conversations with via Gmail.  In fact, I'm quite sure that if I looked in my gmail account today that I'd see a few unanswered emails from you.  I apologize if that's the case.  I really left this project hard when I went away.  I just really can't afford to be that invested in it anymore and I'm afraid that little things we'd talk about could be the catalyst that makes me jump back into it.  Those conversations were always interesting man..... Keep up the good work on the Atari hacks and the cool artwork you make for them.  I think the artwork you do on the side really makes your hacks stand out among the rest.

Excalibur was a lot of help with Atari stuff, primarily the 2600, as well as a few great 2600 hacks like Tomb Raider - Mystery of the Scarlet Dragon.

Other thanks:

Wimpy for making collection of the GameFAQs and vgmaps possible.  Also for setting up a base for us all to work from and taking this project beyond the XBox.  Tons of stuff we added in the last few months prior to release, thanks to wimpy's help.

Neobomb.  Most of his work came after the project was released in the 1.0 format.  He spent a lot of time uploading the torrents to make them available for everyone and he also made wide icon sets.  He also had a lot to do with maintaining the new forum.

Horscht for doing all the original SNES video creation.  Hundreds of videos were created by the first person on the scene to make video additions.

Sotu for making about 100 videos and some of the first dual preview skins.  Also THANKS FOR TELLING ME HOW TO GET X-COM UFO DEFENSE on PSX working!!!!!!!

dpolsrod for making the AVGN WMV files and organizing them.

flux2k for the idea of a "TV Static" window for missing non-working vids (can't remember who actually made them now though).

Nate1579 & Nextelhalo for working with me to put together the Wide Icon pack.

XTecuterX73 for getting some mapper fixes in mednafenx_nes and getting games like Paperboy II to work finally.

Devilman for fixing some manuals.

grr74 for jazzing up the torrents for us.  (Even though they're now defunct, they really did look awesome with his work).

Nate1579, wimpy, weinerschnitzel, waal, ttd, and nytmar3 for uploading most of the Xtras that got taken down the first time.

BlueSlingShot and bigby and wimpy for re-upping zipfiles after a disgruntled gamer got them all deleted, sans HS 3D Boxart/roms.

dballs442 for making system buttons for the torrents and an Rx banner, and some wide icons.  Also doing some system testing for madmab.

freakdave for updating Surreal finally and getting the sensitivity in Goldeneye working MUCH better among other fixes.

Monkeys69 for heading his own project to UP the compatibility on Surreal.ini.  It works beautifully with freakdaves update.

kenshiro for making some updates to get some extra games playing in FBL 1.3 and hopefully making 1.4 in the future.

BritneysPairs for making a great emulator in CoinOPS and help with videos.

The creators of all of the other emulators, and the emulators which have recently been updated in the set that I don't know their names (Please somebody tell me who made what!!!!)

And last but not least, thanks to the Ban Man at the scene who gave me a little bit of leeway and didn't get the project shut down by banning me for going off on one of my many tirades. I know I can be pretty unbearable sometimes.  :)

Other contributors from the Scene:  Retroplay, Dannermax (Please remind me what you guys did :))

Sorry if I forgot ya. I've worked with so many people and didn't always keep track of who was doing what. Let it be known what ya did and we'll get ya added.

Contributors from other sites:

Dpar at HyperSpin for his awesome 2D Genesis Boxart and permission to use it.

I didn't work much with members from other sites at all, so this is a pretty short list.  I don't believe there are any more people, but if I forgot ya, please let me know.  If we didn't work together at all, but you want credit for any work that you did that was used in the Xtras, please feel free to contact the team so we can get you on here.
